Teeth whitening removes the undesirable effects of aging, tea, coffee and tobacco. It is ideal for those who possess healthy gums and healthy unrestored teeth. Subsequently, if you belong to the aforementioned category, you can be sure that the procedure will have the best possible results.
However, one must take into account that there are 2 types of teeth whitening, both being as popular and effective. One can thus choose between a classical teeth whitening (based on a special designed whitening gel ) and a laser teeth whitening (also called in-office bleaching).The latter is of course faster, but also more expensive – approximately 600$. And as well as the classical teeth whitening, it doesn’t last forever.
One should also keep in mind that teeth whitening is not recommended if the patient has sensitive teeth or some gum disease or if one has crowns, caps or tooth coloured fillings, for the bleaching cannot change the colour of the aforementioned materials. Furthermore, pregnant women should avoid the procedure as well. There can of course appear some temporary side effects with respect to teeth whitening. For instance, the gums can be mildly irritated and the teeth can become more sensitive.
The porcelain veneers are thin and delicate shells of tooth-coloured materials .They are made either of porcelain or of resin composite materials and placed on the surface of the teeth. This somehow recent treatment is more and more often used in cosmetic dentistry, being considered very effective: – it can remove almost all sorts of dental stains, even the ones that were impossible to remove by means of teeth whitening.
By using this kind of treatment, the cosmetic dentist has the possibility to improve teeth’s quality and namely to change the length, width, shape or colour of patient’s teeth. It is therefore ideal for crooked, misaligned, damaged uneven and irregularly shaped teeth. And what is even more important is that in the case of such a process there are almost no side effects. After the procedure is completed you can simply enjoy your new and beautiful smile.
To sum up, we must all admit the great changes cosmetic dentistry can produce. It is the perfect and infaillible solution for having a healthy and at the same time wonderful smile.
